Rutherford"s experiment consists of 3 observations which he summarized from his experiment
he bombarded alpha particles
with golden foil and he saw that some of the particles were reflected at some angles... some passed through the coil... some return back at 180
this experiment also discovered nucleus

hey user !! the answer will be too long but i will try to give a simple and better concepts to you ..

RUTHERFORD MODEL OF AN ATOM :;-
he selected a gold foil for his model experiment..
he selected a gold foil because he wanted as thin layer as possible and that foil contains doubly charged helium atoms...

following observation of his experiment ::::-=

1) most of the alpha charged particles deflected through the foil from small and large angles.
2) most of the alpha particles passed straight through the gold foil .
3) suprisingly ,, every about 12000 particles were apearred to rebound ..

on the basic of this model he had also concluded his nuclear model .

but this alpha charge experiment gave totally unexpected results ::-
even he said in his own words that,:::-

"" THE EXPERIMENT WAS SO INCREDIBLE THAT IF WE FIRE A 15 INCH SHELL INTO A PIECE OF TISSUE PAPER AND IT HIT BACK TO YOU.. "".

hey i had tried my best
