2. it was tried before by Captain alexander read on small scale and extended by Thomas Munro
3. it had a majourity in south india
4. connection was directly made with the cultivators(ryots)who had tilled the land for generations
5. Munro thought British Should act as paternal father figures protecting the ryots under charge
6. instead of zamindars ryots were incharge of their land
