Hey dear!
_________

The question is divided into two parts-  what is a secular state and the right to freedom of religion. I give here the answers to both the parts under separate headings.

Freedom of Religion:

Right to Freedom of Religion under the Articles 25-28.

Right to Equality, Article 15 also Prohibits discrimination on grounds of religion, race, caste, sex or place of birth and therefore no institution run or aided or funded by govt can deny admission only on the grounds of religion

Secular State

India is a secular state as it does not have any state or official religion. It can not prefer or favour any specific religion.

By Constitution, India is a secular country because the Indian Constitution says that every person has a. right to profess, practice and propagate the religion as he or she believes in. Every religious group or sect is free to manage its religious affairs.

There is a separation of politics from religion and  Indian govt does not interfere in the religious matters unless it becomes a law and order problem or an obstacle in the practice of the same rights by other communities.

Note: But it is also true that the word "Secular" was added into the preamble by the 42nd Amendment in 1976.
