Explain Self -pollination in flowering plants​

Answer: self pollination in flowering plants is defined, when the pollen grains from the anther of the same plant falls on the stigma of the same plant via various pollinators like wind,insects etc and start the process of fertilization. Plants which self pollinate are complete flowers (plants with both male & female parts.)

Self Pollination:-

When the pollen grains are transferred from the anther to stigma, of the same flower or to the other flower of the same plant is called Self Pollination.

➣ There are basically two types of Pollination:-

  • Self Pollination
  • Cross Pollination

Cross Pollination:-

When the pollen grains are transferred from the anther to stigma of a different flower of a different plant is called Cross Pollination.
