Explain sexual reproduction in plants.

Sexual reproduction in plants occurs when the pollen from an anther is transferred to the stigma. If plants can fertilise themselves, it is called self-fertilisation. Self-fertilisation occurs when the pollen from an anther fertilizes the eggs on the same flower

The production of new plants from existing plants by the funsion of their sex cells is called sexual reproduction. it is also called sexual reproduction because sex cells called gaments are involved in this method for producing new plant. in sexual reproduction in plants the fusion of male and female sex cells lead to the formation of seed. seed can then germinate to form a plant. so in sexual reproduction new plants are obtained from existing plants through seeds . most of the flowering plants reproduce by the method of sexual reproduction . For ex =wheat, gram, peas, paddy, maize, mustard etc.
