Sigma and Pi bonds are chemical covalent bonds. Sigma and Pi bonds are formed by the overlap of atomic orbitals.

Pi bond is weaker than Sigma bond. It is easy to break.

Examples:

  • Sigma bonds would be simple C-H bond or C-X bond.
  • Pi bonds would be C=O and C=N.
