sin i / sin r = n2 / n1

where,

i = the angle of incidence

r = angle of refraction

n1 = refractive index of medium 1

n2 = refractive index of medium 2

It states that the ratio of the sine of the angle of incidence and refraction of light is constant when it passes between two given medium.

i.e. sini/sinr = μ = constant.

where, μ = refractive index
