Some factors responsible for the annual movement of dhangars:

• Dhangars was one of the most important pastoral communities in Maharashtra.

• The people had different occupations like Buffalo headers, Shepherds, blanket weavers.

• In monsoon seasons people stayed in the central plateau of Maharashtra.

• By early October, the dhangars move west and reach the Konkani region because of a shortage of food.

• Konkani region has abundant rainfall and rich soils. They leave this region at the start of the monsoon season.

• They will revert their villages on the dry plateau.
