The strategies used by the british empire to conquer India were:-
i)The Doctrine of Lapse- According to this if the Indian ruler dies without a natural heir(child) then the state ( or region) will move to the British's hands.
ii)Subsidiary Alliance- According to this the rulers had to either give some of its army to britishers or had to give away its territory.
iii)Annexations- This strategy was used by Britishers to annex the kingdoms directly.
