The principle of reflection of sound is used in a technique called SONAR(Sound navigation and Ranging) Determine the depth of seas ot lakes.

The Sonar apparatus consista transmitter tobsend and a receiver to detect or receive
sound waves.the transmitter emits ultrasonic sound waves which after reflection from the bottom of the sea are received by the receiver.the time taken for the ultrasonic waves to go and coneback is recorded.

byknowing the speed of the sound waves in water.

we can calculate the depth of the ocean..

Sonar is used for detecting the presence and the distance if underwater objects such as reefs submarines and fish.Air planes and ships use sonar to detect submarines..

Friend !

First look at definition,

● SONAR ●

Sonar is a technique that uses sound propagation to navigate, communicate with or detect objects on or under the surface of the water, such as other vessels.

Yo !!

■ Now its uses -

# Sonars are used for detecting noise from marine objects.

# also, to search large fish concentrations.

■ TYPES OF SONAR ■

# Passive Sonar.

# Active Sonar.

■ Sonar may be especially used for measurement of the echo characteristics of targets in the water.

{ NOTE : full form of "SONAR" is sound navigation and ranging }.
