Hey!!!!.....Here is ur answer

Sparking potential ---- If the potential difference between the electrodes is gradually increased, sparking occurs in the gas at a certain stage. The minimum potential difference which can cause sparks in a gas is called the sparking potential.

Hope it will help you

When the potential difference between two electrode(+ve and -ve) gradually increased sparking which is due to the ionisation of gas. So the minimum potential required is called sparking potential. It may be known as dielectric strength.
for an example the dielectric strength of air is
3 \times 10 {}^{6} \:
its unit is volt per metre
so if we applied 3*10^6 v/m then sparking occurs in the air.
