Fragmentation is an asexual mode of reproduction in multicellular organisms.

Organisms perform this type of reproduction when there are favourable conditions.

What actually happens ?

  1. The body of parent organism breaks into several fragments.
  2. The organism can break it intentionally or it can be due to some other factors.
  3. The fragments then start to live as an independent organism.

In whom it takes place -

Algae like spirogyra breaks its filaments in order to perform this type of reproduction.

Sponges like Sycon also use this method of reproduction.

Hope this helped you and mark me as brainliest if my answer helped you.
