Subsidiary Alliance is a treaty which the British used to give to the Indian rulers. According to this treaty if any king happen to sign this treaty. He would be protected by the British army against any invader. But by doing this the king loses his every power except the administrative power. He become a puppet king which is under control of the British.

For Example- the king of Awadh was the first king who signed this treaty.
