Subsidiary alliances means in the past Indian ruler were not allowed to have their own army. They were protected by the east India company army. Indian ruler had to pay for this of rupees 500,000. if they are not able to pay the money the part of their Teritorries were taken my the british. This tern is called as subsidiary alliance
