The pressure exerted by blood vessels on the walls of arteries is called blood pressure.

The pressure during ventricular systole (contraction) is called systolic pressure and the pressure during ventricular diastole (relaxation) is called diastolic pressure.

Blood pressure is measured by a device called sphygmomanometer.
