Speed is defined as distance covered per unit time.... speed = Distance/time

and velocity is termed as displacement covered per unit time...

velocity= Displacement/time

Relative velocity
Velocity is usually measured with respect to a point in space that we specify to be the Reference Location that is defined to have zero velocity. Hence “relative” generally means “relative” to a location that has zero velocity. So when your car is travelling at 60 mph it is 60mph relative to the road which is assumed to have zero velocity.
