Acid
• Those substance which dissociate into H+ ions on dissolving in water are called as Acid.
• Acid turns blue litmus to red.
• Examples are Sulphuric Acid and Hydrochloric Acid.
Alkalies
• Those bases which are soluble in water are called as Alkalis.
• Alkalis turn red litmus to blue.
• Examples are Sodium hydroxide and Potassium hydroxide.
