In England as the urban population grew, the market for food grains expanded. To meet the demand more new lands were brought under cultivation.

Advantages

(i) Enclosure moment helped in bringing long - term investments on land in britain .

(ii) It led to the development of plan crop rotations to improve the fertility of the soil .

(iii) Enclosure allowed the richer land owners to expand the land under their control.

(iv) It also helped the land owners to produce more for the market which led to less import of food grains in England .

Disadvantages

(i) The enclosed land became the exclusive property of the landlords. Enclosures filled the pockets of landlords.

(ii) Enclosure Movement made the life of poor miserable. They were displaced and deprived of their land. Their customary rights disappeared and they were forced to search new jobs.
