Alkane is the one of Homologous series.
Formula for Alkane is CnH2n+2.
CH4 that is methane is first member of Alkane family.
It has only single bond.
It comes under saturated hydrocarbons.

Alkanes are the hydrocarbons in which all the linkages between the carbon atoms are single covalent bonds.
These are called as saturated hydrocarbons since all 4 valencies are fully satisfied by the formula CnH2n+2 by a single bond.
