Consider triangle ABD and ADC,

AB = AC (given)...... (1)...... Side

AD = AD (common)......(2)..... Height

Now, angle ADC is 90°(angle in a semicircle is 90°)

Therefore ADB = 90°(linear pair)

ADC = ADB = 90°......(3)..... Right angle

from (1),(2),(3) ABD is congruent to ACD (RHS congruence)

Therefore BD = CD (CPCT)

But CD = 5cm

Therefore BD = 5 cm

Option(C) 5 cm is the correct answer
