The human appendicular skeleton is composed of the bones of the upper limbs (which function to grasp and manipulate objects) and the lower limbs (which permit locomotion). It also includes the pectoral (or shoulder) girdle and the pelvic girdle, which attach the upper and lower limbs to the body, respectively.

The skeleton consists of 2 parts , 1st one is the axial skeleton which consist of the bones which are on the axis of our body ( skull-22 bones,vertebral column-26 bones, 1 hyoid bone and 3 pairs of internal ear bones-Hammer, incus and stapes, 1 sternum and 12 pairs of ribs) and the appendicular skeleton consists of 126 bones (each limb has 30 bones , 2 scapula , 2 clavicle( collar bone) and 2 hip bones which make the pelvic girdle .
