Overview of the disease:

Dengue is spread by mosquitoes, more specifically Aedes mosquito which carries the dengue virus. So, the vector here is Aedes mosquito. The symptoms are most commonly within 3-10 days, that might get extended upto 14 days maximum. The Dengue disease is also known as Breakbone disease. Common symptoms of dengue are fever, tiredness, muscle pain, aches in body parts etc.

Causes:

The causative agent of dengue disease is Dengue virus which is RNA virus. They are spread by vector mosquito, The Aedes aegypti. The bite of the mosquito will help the virus to enter our body and causing the disease. Sometimes, fatal condition occurs during Dengue haemorrhage which leads to bleeding.

Transmission:

The mode of transmission or vector is Aedes mosquito. They mostly affect or bite a person in early morning or evening. The virus gets into the Salivary glands of these mosquito and it is released into the host's body when the mosquito pierces into it.

Dengue can also spread by infected blood transfusions and sexual contact . Also, it has been found that it can be transmitted to the foetus from dengue infected mother. Hence, necessary steps should be taken to prevent the contact with infected person.

Methods of Treatments:

The several ways or methods by which dengue can be restricted to spread from one body to another are:

  • Analgesics drugs other than aspirin.
  • Intravenous infusion.
  • Blood transfusion
  • Oxygen therapy
  • Sedatives.
