Birth Of Weimar Republic :

In the early 20th century, Germany was a very powerful empire. The First World War which was from 1914 - 1918 was fought by Germany and the Allied Powers. The Allied Powers were England, France and Russia.

Germany made gains by occupying France and Belgium. The allies became more strong when the US joined the war in 1917. It eventually defeated Germany on November 1918.

Hence, the world war came to an end.

The emperor of Germany slowly resigned after the defeat. A national assembly which met at Weimar established a democratic Constitution which had federal structure. Many deputies were elected, the German parliament was called the Reichstag.

After establishing this kind of parliament, there was rule of democracy and everyone had the right to vote (Universal Adult Franchise).

This is how Weimar Republic was formed.
