Explanation:

Body Mass Index is a simple calculation using a person's height and weight. The formula is BMI = kg/m2 where kg is a person's weight in kilograms and m2 is their height in metres squared. A BMI of 25.0 or more is overweight, while the healthy range is 18.5 to 24.9. BMI applies to most adults 18-65 years.

\sf\huge\bold{Solution}

BMI ( body mass index ) is a way to describe an individual height and weight in one number.

BMI enables to tell someone health condition means whether he/she is healthy or not one can find easily with the calculation through BMI.

Now , formulas for finding BMI is :

\sf\boxed{BMI =  \dfrac{Mass(kg)}{ {(Height)}^{2} }}

BMI range and health status:

  • If <18.5(under weight)
  • if 18.5-24.9(Normal weight)[Good value ]
  • 25.0-29.9( over weight)

Lets take an example : A boy of height 1.65 m and having weight of 68 kg.Calculate his BMI

BMI  =  \dfrac{Mass}{{Height}^{2}}

 =   \dfrac{68}{ {1.65}^{2} }  = 24.98

Hence ,BMI is little good as it lies around between 18.5-24.90

If we round off 24.98 it becomes 25 which is over weight not good.
