Explain the cause of dispersion of white light through a prism

Answer:

White light is made up of different colours namely violet, indigo, Blue, green, orange, Red . All this colours have their own refractive index , therefore when the white colour enters in any transparent medium ( here prism) the white light get dispersed into its seven constituent colours.
