16 th December is a day of great significance in South Africa due to two historical events took place.The battle of Blood river in 1838 took place between the Voortrekkers and the Zulus. the second historical event took place in 1961 , when Umkhonto we Sizwe formed Military wing of the African national congress. during this event the South Africa formed non-racial and democratic government for promoting reconciliation and national unity. the Both African and liberation struggle traditions and renamed as the Day of Reconciliation.
