Administration of Sher Shah

Explanation:

Sher Shah is known for his good administration. For efficient administration he divided the empire into small provinces.

Province was further divided into a number of districts called parganas. Each pargana was made up of a number of villages. The village was the most reduced regulatory unit.

Shiqdar-i-shiqdaran and munsif-i-munsifan looks after pargana. The shiqdar handle law and order. The munsif look after the revenue.  The panchayat look after village administration. The two main officials in a village were patwari (revenue collector) and muqaddam in charge of law.
