➝ Chemical properties of acids:-

1. Acids react with active metals to give hydrogen gas.

• Eg : Zn + H2SO4→ZnSO4 + H2

2. Acids react with metal carbonate and metal hydrogen carbonate to give carbon dioxide.

• Eg : NaHCO3 +HCl→NaCl + H2O + CO2 reaction.

3. Acids react with bases to give salt and water. This reaction is called as neutralization

• Eg : NaOH + HCl→ NaCl +H2O

4. Acids react with metals oxides to give salt and water.

• Eg : CuO + H2SO4→CuSO4 + H2O
