Measurement -

Measurement is the size, length, or amount of something as established by measuring.

Common Mistakes Committed by children in doing measurements and related problems -

1) Children are unable to identify the different types of measurements such as  length, breadth and height.

2) Children commonly confused with different types of measurements like 1 metre has 100 cm. 1 litre has 1000 ml . But they committed a common mistake like    1 litre has 100 ml.

3) Children do common mistakes in doing measurements such as , while measuring a line segment, a child might begin from the 1 marking on the ruler.

4) While teacher is explaining how to measure, children might not concentrate on what teacher is explaining.

Activities to rectify such errors -

Teachers should teach them how to use a ruler while measuring a line segment.

Teachers  should teach their students in creative way so that students can understand measurements easily and try to rectify their common mistakes.

Teachers should  use different methods or strategies to teach measurements by using different objects and should teach how to measure them.

Teachers should give a clear meaning of different types of measurements such as kilometres, metres, centimetres, millimetres,  litres, millilitres, kilograms, grams, milligrams etc.
