Composition

Coal is a very impure form of carbon. it mainly consists of atoms of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. a small amount of sulphur is also present in it.

Deposits

To the total coal reserves in the world, Asia contributes contributes about, whereas North and South America. India has large deposits of coal. It is estimated that India has about 80 billion tonnes of proven coal deposits.

Formation

millions of years ago

natural calamities like earthquake and volcanoes occurred.

swampy areas covered with dense forests buried in chasms.

plants have no contact with oxygen.

layers of sediments occurred.

Explanation:

Hello userr

Composition :-

Coal is defined as a readily combustible rock containing more than 50% by weight of carbon. Coals other constituents include hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, ash, and sulfur. Some of the undesirable chemical constituents include chorine and sodium.

Deposition :-

Coal formed millions of years ago when the earth was covered with huge swampy forests where plants - giant ferns, reeds and mosses - grew. ... Heat and pressure produced chemical and physical changes in the plant layers which forced out oxygen and left rich carbon deposits.

Formation:-

Coal is mostly carbon with variable amounts of other elements; chiefly hydrogen, sulfur, oxygen, and nitrogen. Coal is formed when dead plant matter decays into peat and is converted into coal by the heat and pressure of deep burial over millions of years.

Extra info:-

There are 4 types of coal...

1) peat

2) lignite

3) bituminous

4) anthracite
