The articles of the Convention may be grouped into four categories of rights and a set of guiding principles. Child Rights Importance. Child Rights are fundamental freedoms and the inherent rights of all human beings below the age of 18. These rights apply to every child, irrespective of the child's parent's / legal guardian's race, color, sex, creed or other status. The essential message is equality of opportunity. The four core principles of the Convention are non-discrimination; devotion to the best interests of the child; the right to life, survival and development; and respect for the views of the child. Every right spelled out in the CRC is inherent to the human dignity and harmonious development of every child.
