The major responsibility of the textiles committee is (b) determining the quality standards of cloth.

The textile committee became functional on 22nd August 1964.

Being controlled by the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, it is a statutory body with perpetual succession.

Set with an objective to ensure quality in the textiles and machinery both for domestic trade and for international trade, Textiles committee is run with many other objectives laid under the section 4 of the act.
