If you see the political and social situation after WW-I the political equations were changing. Those who believe in pacific ways of INC i.e. nonviolence, hunger strike and Satyagrah can believe that Gandhi has contributed a lot in freedom fight of India. However, they should forward their second cheek if somebody slaps on first.

However, those who believe in Chanakya niti, might is right and the simple fact that any war needs to be won with iron and blood, be sure that he has not contributed much in the freedom fight.
