Answer:

Lenin was the leader of the radical socialist Bolshevik Party (later renamed the Communist Party), which seized power in the October phase of the Russian Revolution of 1917. After the revolution, Lenin headed the new Soviet government that formed in Russia. He became the leader of the USSR upon its founding in 1922.

His contribution to the Russia Revolution -

i) On his return from exile in April 1917, he organised his party to take over the reins of government, like the Mensheviks, running the Provisional government had lost the popular support.

ii) In his 'April Theses', he put forward clear policies to end Russian participation in the war, transferring land to the tiller and nationalising banks.

iii) He declared the right to self-determination of all people in the Russian empire. On 7th November 1917, the Provisional Government fell, making Lenin the head of the world's first communist country.
