Contra entries are entries passed to reverse or nullify a transaction on the accounting books.
If a debit entry is posted on one side, a credit contra entry is made. Remember the word contra as “Against” or “Opposite”.
These entries don't require a narration and only a “C” is written in the left column which indicates it is a contra entry.
