In 1st world war, Germany lost badly and Germany was made to pay the compensation worth £6 billion. Treaty of Versailles was signed. It was a harsh and humiliating peace.
There was a democratic government in Germany called the Weimar republic. There was a great economic depression in Germany because of the war and compensation that Germany was made to pay. But, Weimar republic could'nt do so much to get Germany out of great economic depression. So, support for Weimar republic, a democratic government grew thin.
And also, Hitler gave powerful speeches and promised German citizens that he will get them out of economic depression. People was really impressed and this was also an important reason for fall of democracy in Germany
