IUCN classifies species in different categories:

Not Evaluated(NE)- Not evaluated by the IUCN. Most of the time, the species will not show up when searched. An example would be the monarch butterfly or green iguana.

Data Deficient(DD)- No, not Dunkin’ Donuts, it means that there is not enough data to categorize the species, but still evaluated. It cannot be determined. Both species of spinner dolphins are DD.

Least Concern(LC)- The species is widespread and is not threatened. These species include a lot of species such as snakes.

Near Threatened(NT)- Not as widespread to be least concern, however not as rare as endangered or vulnerable species. Protection should start happening.

Vulnerable(VU)- Species that are close to being endangered, but have not reached the point yet. African elephants, lions, and giant pandas are vulnerable.

Endangered(EN)- Species so rare that they face extinction. Species include the red panda and tiger.

Critically Endangered(CR)- Species rarer than endangered species and have a huge likelihood of being extinct in the wild or extinct.

Extinct in the Wild(EW)- Species like the Hawaiian crow that are extinct or no longer exist in the wild. Axolotls may be updated to this.

Extinct(EX)- No living individuals exist. The species is terminated. Species include the dinosaurs, golden toad, and the dodo.
