In Horizontal Power Sharing, power is shared among 3 groups:-
1. Legislature
2.Executive
3.Judiciary
whereas in Vertical Power Sharing, power is shared among different groups like National level, State level, Provincial level etc.

1) These include:-

judiciary
2)Each organ work as a check on other organ.
3)The separation is called a system of check and balances.
4) There is a balance of power among various institutions.
5) This is called the horizontal distribution of power because it allows different organs of the government placed at the same level to exercise different powers.
VERTICAL POWER SHARING:-
1) It includes:-
central
state
local
2) There may be general government for the whole century which is called federal government. In India it is known as the central or state government.
3) They have different powers.
4) constitution lays down the power of different level of government.
5) Example:- power at different levels was shared in Belgium but not in Sri Lanka.
