Explain the difference between the atom and the molecule of an element. Can a molecule of an element be the same as its atom? Give an example.

Atoms are the smallest particle which may or may not have an independent existence
Molecule are the particle that have an independent exsistence they are of two types homoatomic and hetroatomic.

atoms are the smallest unit of a particle ...molecules are the existing form of a particle ...molecules are made of atoms .......ya in case of Na or sodium it is so ....its molecule is also Na and its atom is also Na...hope helps you
