explain the difference between wired and wireless medium

Explanation:

Wired communications has a wire while wireless doesn't....

More seriously, normally when we say “wireless” we really mean cellular communications for the link from device to a base station. And when we say “wired” we mean a DSL or fiber connection to the home and then we often use WiFi inside the home to carry the traffic over a last short wireless link to the device.

This means the only real difference is the length of the radio link. Wired means 10s metres of WiFi while wireless means 100s metres to a few km of radio link. After that both systems use some sort of backhaul transport which might be either wired or wireless based.

Hope it helps!!!

Answer:

Wired requires a physical connection to the users device. Wireless use electromagnetic waves to connect. As we know "wired" is the term refers to any physical medium consisting of cables. The cables can be copper wire, twisted pair or fiber optic.

Wireless media carry electromagnetic signals that represent the binary digits of data communications using radio or microwave frequencies. ... As well, the number of wireless enabled devices is continuously increasing. For these reasons, wireless has become the medium of choice for home networks.
