★ MODES OF NUTRITION -----»

It is their food that provides animals their required nutrition. The nutrition requirement of heterotrophic i.e. heterotrophic nutrition , are met by them in the three different ways. These are the three modes of Nutrition :

  • Saprotrophic nutrition
  • Saprotrophic nutrition Parasite nutrition
  • Saprotrophic nutrition Parasite nutrition Holozoic nutrition

★ SAPROTROPIC NUTRITION :------ The nutrients obtained from dead and decaying plants and animal matter is known as saprotrophic nutrition set an organism secretes enzymes outside , digest the organic food and absorb the soluble organic compounds. Most fungi and some bacteria are saprotrophs.

★ PARASITIC NUTRITION :------ The modes of nutrition in which an organism obtain food from some other living organism also known as host of a different group is known as parasitic nutrition. Parasites may live on , or in, the body of another living organism. In this mode of nutrition the parasite is benefited while the host gets harmed. Roundworms , head louse , body louse are parasites.

★ HOLOZOIC NUTRITION :------ This mode of nutrition, in which organism like Amoeba and human beings eat food that may be in solid or liquid state. This food is taken into the body and then is broken down to provide the required nutrition to the body.
