Digestion in duodenum -

Anterior part of the small intestine is called duodenum.

As the chyme enters the duodenum , it gets mixed with the Brunner's gland secretion , bile, pancreatic and intestinal juices.

These alkaline juices which neutralize the acidity of chyme and make the intestinal medium as alkaline and alkaline food is called chyle.

Digestion in ileum -

From duodenum food reaches the ileum by peristalsis it is called chyle.

The inner surface of ileum contains types of glands.

1. Brunner's glands

2. Crypts of Lieberkuhn or intestinal glands
