Explain the distribution pattern of rainfall in india and factors affecting that distribution?

Rainfall in India mainly occurs in the months of July, August and September .The Indian rains are chiefly orographic in nature. As a result, the regions situated in the windward side receive greater rainfall than the regions situated in the leeward side. A scant amount of rainfall is received from cyclones and convectional rainfall. Monsoon in India is unpredictable , irregular and not well distributed . While some regions face droght others face floods.
Factors affecting distribution:_
Latitudinal extent - The tropical and coastal regions and plains receive more rainfall than the plateau and desert regions in the interior .
Relief and Topography :- The windward side of mountains and hills receive more rainfall than the leeward side.
