Answer:-

Factors which lead to land degradation:-

  • Mining

Mining requires to clear huge areas of forest land. The waste products of mining are simply left in their place after mining is finished. This causes serious environmental contamination.  Mining leads to loss of biodiversity, contamination of soil and water, soil erosion etc. by the chemicals emitted from mining processes.

  • Deforestation

In many areas Deforestation is done for mining process, as it requires a huge area for mining.  Trees are also cleared everyday to make way for agriculture in fertile lands to meet the increasing food demands.

  • Agricultural Activities

Agricultural activities such as over irrigation and the use of chemical fertilizers increase the salinity of the land.

  • Overgrazing

It leads to soil erosion.

  • Industries

Industrial effluents like untreated wastes is let out in surrounding which causes land pollution.
