Soil: Cotton can grown on a variety of soils but the black Cotton soil of the Deccan plateau which has the ability to retain moisture is more suitable. It also grows well in alluvial soil.

temperature:Cotton needs a warm temperature of 21°C to 27°C,and abundant sunshine is necessary during the growth of the plant . A long period of at least 210 frostfree days is also necessary for the plant to mature.

rainfall: moderate to light rainfall is adequate for Cotton cultivation. Rainfall ranging between 50cm to 80cm is adequate. The crop can be successfully grown in areas of low rainfall with the help of irrigation

areas of production:
The leading Cotton producing states are Gujrat, Maharashtra,Punjab, madhya Pradesh, haryana , Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

hope it's helpful for you♥️

Cotton is grown between latitudes of 37° north and 30° south in temperate, subtropical and tropical regions and on every continent.

Ideal conditions for the cotton plant are:

  • Long vegetation periods (175 to 225 days) without frost.
  • Constant temperatures between 18 and 30°.
  • Ample sunshine and fairly dry conditions.
  • A minimum of 500 mm of water between germination and boll formation.
  • Deep, well-drained soils with a good nutrient content.
