Your answer:-

The raised parts of the crust are the continents and the depressed parts are the oceans. The inside is gooier than the brittle exterior, but it's still solid. ... Earth's outer surface is its crust, a cold, thin, brittle outer shell made of rock. The crust is very thin relative to the radius of the planet.

  • It's the outer part of the earth that's why called lithosphere or rocksphere.
  • The continental or upper crust is called sial which is made of silicon and aluminium.
  • The oceanic crust is called sima which is made of silicon and magnesium.
  • Sial is less dense than Sima.
  • The transition zone between these two types of crust is sometimes called the Conrad discontinuity.
