The following are some of the characteristics of peninsular rivers :-

1.They rise either in Western Ghats or the Satpuda-Mahadev-Maikal-Hazaribaug range

2.Most of them flow towards the east or south-east,and empty into the Bay of Bengal

3.Some of them flow towards the west, and meet the Arabian Sea.Most of these are short in length ( 30–60 km.)
