resistance is inversely related to area of cross section.

(a) Answer of question no. (a) is given in the pictures which are attached with this answer. Please see them one-by-one.

(b) Resistance of a wire is inversely proportional to the area of cross section of the wire. This means that if the area of cross section of the wire is more, then it's resistance towards electric current will be more than an another wire whose area of cross section is less.

(c) Copper and aluminium, being metals, are good conductors of electricity and are not costly like gold and silver. So, wires of copper and aluminium are usually employed for electricity transmission.
