AL2O3 IS A AMPHOTERIC OXIDE WHICH MEANS EVEN THOUGTH ITS A METAL ITS FORMS AMPHOTERIC OXIDE AND WILL GIVE SALT AND WATER... WHETER IT REACTS WITH BASE OR ACID.
THE AMPHOTERIC COMPOUND HAVE CHARACTERISTIC OF BOTH ACID AND BASIC OXIDE.
