Being a strong acid, complete dissociation takes place

On addition of H2O,

H2O —→ (H+) + (OH-)

It’s not a strong acid. This is because, as soon as it dissociates into ions, these ions again combine to form water. Hence, there is an equilibrium maintained.

As soon as these both are mixed with each other, you find that h+ is a “common ion”. Hence, what happens is that h+ becomes abundant (i.e. the product is formed in excess). Hence to “nullify” the reaction, equilibrium tends to go backwards
